Mid-Span Power over Ethernet Hubs
Enterasys 10/100Mb Mid-Span Power Hubs are well suited for converged network applications, providing a safe and efficient way to power multiple IP phones, wireless LAN access points, security cameras and other LAN devices without the need for an external power supply for each device.
Enterasys Mid-Span hubs have fused power surge protection as well as a device-detection circuit to provide increased safety and overvoltage protection when connecting expensive devices, such as IP phones or laptops, to the network. Should a power surge occur, either through a building electrical system or lightning strike, the Mid-Span hubs absorb the impact and protect the valuable attached devices. If an individual power module is damaged, the power module can be hot swapped without powering down the chassis or otherwise impacting the devices attached to other power modules in the chassis.
Continuous operation of powered LAN devices is assured and costly downtime is avoided when Mid-Span hubs are used in conjunction with an uninterruptible power supply. Such a configuration saves time and money by leveraging the use of a single uninterruptible power supply to provide non-stop power.
